Two people were detained in Galați after allegedly bringing 1.7 kilograms of cannabis and 65 grams of cocaine from Spain.

Two people, aged 43 and 44, were detained by DIICOT Galați prosecutors for international and domestic trafficking in high-risk and high-risk drugs after allegedly bringing approximately 1.7 kilograms of cannabis and 65 grams of cocaine into Romania for sale.

According to investigators, the drugs were allegedly obtained in Spain in September 2026 and sent to Romania through a courier company in a parcel concealing the narcotics.

The two people were caught in the act on Wednesday in the municipality of Galați, during a series of operations carried out after the parcel was collected. The operation was conducted by officers from the Galați Brigade for Combating Organized Crime, together with prosecutors from DIICOT – Galați Territorial Service.

On September 30, prosecutors ordered the suspects’ detention. On Thursday, October 1, they notified the rights and freedoms judge at the Galați Tribunal, requesting the pretrial detention of the two people for 30 days. The investigation is continuing to establish the full extent of the criminal activity.
