Dani Mocanu and his brother, Ionuț Mocanu, have filed a request for appeal in cassation at the High Court of Romania, seeking the annulment of the final conviction for attempted murder. This action comes in the context where the two are under house arrest in Italy, and the Romanian Ministry of Justice is trying to obtain their extradition. The Romanian authorities have requested their surrender, but the Court of Appeal in Naples has postponed the hearing of the request, setting a new date for January 20. Dani Mocanu was sentenced to 4 years in prison, while his brother received 7 years, following the incident in 2022 when Mocanu assaulted a man at a gas station in Pitești. Additionally, Dani Mocanu had a previous conviction of 6 years and five months for pimping and money laundering, which was not served due to the statute of limitations. Romanian judges are now reviewing the appeal request.
