The Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) issued a statement rejecting the Government's claims regarding milestone 215 from the PNRR related to service pensions. CSM argues that the positive evaluation by the European Commission in 2024 was based on the amendments to Law no. 282/2023, and issues only arose after the progressive taxation was invalidated by the Constitutional Court. CSM criticizes the recent changes made by the Government, emphasizing that they do not meet the requirements of the European Commission. Tensions between CSM and the Executive have intensified following statements by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, and CSM reaffirms that the Commission's evaluations do not target judges' pensions, but only the invalidated tax regime.
