The Supreme Council for National Defence is meeting on Thursday at 18:00 at Cotroceni Palace, convened by President Nicușor Dan. It is the first CSAT meeting attended by Prime Minister Luca Niculescu and the new ministers of the Cabinet.
The meeting’s agenda includes the security implications generated by the incidents occurring in the Black Sea. Council members will assess the measures necessary to strengthen Romania’s response capacity, with a view to protecting its territorial waters and critical maritime infrastructure.
The Presidential Administration announced that other current national security topics will also be discussed during the meeting. The meeting takes place amid concerns about the safety of maritime infrastructure and the protection of Romania’s naval space.
Also on Thursday, before the CSAT meeting, President Nicușor Dan will meet with Sean Clancy, Chairman of the European Union Military Committee.
