The Supreme Council of National Defence (CSAT) will meet on Monday at 3:00 p.m. at Cotroceni Palace, after President Nicuşor Dan convened the meeting. The meeting’s agenda includes major issues concerning national defence and security.
CSAT members will analyse the Romanian Army’s Equipment Plan for 2027–2036 and the Romanian Army 2044 Programme. The document on implementing the SAFE programme, approved during an interinstitutional meeting on 13 August 2026, will also be discussed.
Another topic concerns the terms of reference for the review, at the level of the U.S. Department of War, of the posture of U.S. forces and deployment locations in Europe. The agenda also includes strengthening the U.S. military presence on Romanian territory.
The Presidential Administration states that other current national security issues will also be analysed during the meeting. The agenda reflects priorities related to modernising the Romanian Army, military cooperation with the United States and adapting defence capabilities to security developments in the region.
