Cristian Anton, the head of the Romanian Road Authority (ARR), detained for corruption, was recorded counting the money he received as a bribe for promoting the exams at RAR. In the case, the DNA conducted operational surveillance and prosecutors have both interceptions and environmental recordings and footage. Additionally, in the case, the DNA also worked with 3 undercover investigators.

Prosecutors discovered during the surveillance that Anton Cristian was depositing money even above the kitchen furniture.

DNA prosecutors detained the director of the Romanian Road Authority, Cristian Anton, following an extensive investigation targeting acts of corruption, including influence peddling and bribery. The case, handled by DNA Cluj since August 2025, was initiated after a complaint filed in November 2024, which reported acts of corruption related to the issuance of certificates for the transport of goods and people.

DNA conducted operational surveillance, including interceptions and environmental recordings, discovering a complex mechanism for defrauding the exams organized by ARR.

Following the searches, approximately 500,000 euros were found, deposited in various places, including in shoe boxes. Anton and an associate were detained for 24 hours and are to be presented to the court with a proposal for preventive arrest. The charges include continuous bribery and forming an organized criminal group.
