Cristian Anton, former general director of the Romanian Road Authority (ARR), was brought on Thursday to the central headquarters of the DNA, already being in preventive detention.
He is accused of taking bribes in a continuous form, forming an organized criminal group, and using confidential information to obtain undue benefits. Investigators are conducting computer searches to extract data from the confiscated devices, in order to demonstrate the operating method of the network that defrauded the ARR exams.
In the case, Anton appears under the nickname 'Emperor', being suspected of coordinating the network's activity, establishing the examination committees, and collecting bribes. The network is said to have operated in several counties, and bribes amounting to tens of thousands of euros were collected during certain examination sessions.
