Cristela Georgescu arrived at the DIICOT headquarters on Tuesday morning, where prosecutors are due to conduct a digital search of her phone, seized during searches carried out at her home and that of her husband, Călin Georgescu, in Mogoșoaia.
The procedure is taking place in the fraud case in which Călin Georgescu has been indicted and is in pretrial detention. According to G4Media sources, investigators will examine the data stored on the phone to determine whether it is connected to the acts under investigation.
Cristela Georgescu was met outside the institution by several supporters, who chanted, “Cristela Georgescu is the first lady.” She greeted them and placed her hand over her heart before entering the DIICOT headquarters. The politician’s wife was accompanied by the same bodyguard who brought Vasile Moldovan, Călin Georgescu’s father and a witness in the case, to questioning on Monday.
Moldovan is being questioned in connection with a transaction made from his bank account to businessman Răzvan Leu, who filed the complaint with DIICOT. Cristela Georgescu entered the institution holding a religious-themed book against her chest. The investigation is ongoing.
