At the Giurgiu-Ruse border crossing point, traffic is extremely congested due to rehabilitation works carried out by the Bulgarian side, which have led to alternative traffic on one lane. Romanian authorities suggest that tourists heading to Bulgaria or Greece use alternative routes to avoid long waiting times. There are several crossing points available in neighboring counties and the Romanian police are working with the Bulgarian authorities for efficient traffic management.
