On December 5th, the Orthodox calendar commemorates Saint Sava the Sanctified, recognized as a miracle worker. Born in Cappadocia, he entered the monastery at the age of eight, renouncing his parents' wealth. He founded the monastery known as the 'old lavra' in Palestine, where he gathered a community of monks. Saint Sava was known for his virtues and miraculous deeds, including saving a brother from a burning oven. He built several monasteries and was appreciated by the patriarchs of Jerusalem. He died at the age of 94, and his death was celebrated by a large crowd of monks. His body is buried in the Monastery of Saint Sava the Sanctified, an important pilgrimage site.
