The mayor of Cluj-Napoca, Emil Boc, announced the signing of the contract for the establishment of the first Center for victims of domestic violence, with a total investment of 5 million euros. The new center will consist of two buildings: an administrative building, which will include spaces for social, medical, and psychological counseling, offices, a kitchen, a dining room, and activity areas, and a housing building, with 14 fully equipped apartments, each with a bathroom and kitchenette.
The works will be carried out by a consortium of companies, and the execution period is estimated at 24 months. Emil Boc emphasized that this project expands the activity of the Center for the Prevention and Combat of Domestic Violence, operational since 2019, and is part of the municipality's efforts to support vulnerable individuals and combat domestic violence. Additionally, the municipality is implementing local programs and projects funded by the European Union for the protection of individuals in difficult situations.
