The former dictator Nicolae Ceausescu's villa in Arad is listed for €2.4 million, although it needs considerable repairs.

The 3,000-square-meter villa was where Ceausescu held official meetings, but was abandoned after 1989. Although the current owners tried for almost a decade to sell it, its advanced state of dilapidation and high price discouraged buyers. Real estate agents suggest converting it into a boutique hotel or museum, as investors are increasingly interested in its public use. The villa remains a symbol of the opulence of the communist regime.
