The International Villa in Timișoara, formerly a protocol house of Nicolae Ceaușescu, has recently been transferred to the ownership of the Timiș County Council, which has approved its rental for private events.

The President of the Timiș County Council, Alfred Simonis, announced that the space will be available for use for periods of up to 45 days, at a rate of 2 lei per square meter per day, plus VAT. The first rental request has already come from a company that organizes events in the villa's courtyard, in the context that the renovation of the building is not yet completed. According to the County Council's decision, the rental will be done without a tender, only for occasional uses.

The villa, located near the Metropolitan Cathedral, has been left to decay for two decades, but the Timiș County Council intends to transform the property into a cultural and artistic hub starting next year. The location has hosted important personalities, including astronaut Charles Duke and former Romanian and international political leaders.
