Vasile Moldoveanu, Călin Georgescu’s father-in-law, left the hearing at DIICOT without making a statement before the prosecutors and without answering the investigators’ questions. According to sources cited by Evenimentul Zilei, he allegedly invoked the right not to incriminate himself, considering that his statements could be interpreted by the prosecutors.
Moldoveanu did, however, attend the forensic examination of his personal phone. The device check is part of the activities carried out as part of the DIICOT investigation.
As he was leaving the institution’s headquarters, a supporter of Călin Georgescu allegedly tried to prevent the filming and struck two cameramen, representatives of the România TV and Digi TV stations. The incident took place while the journalists were trying to carry out their duties.
The man, dressed in Dacian attire and carrying a flag, was later identified among the group of supporters outside the Central Detention Center. After initially being allowed to leave, he was taken to the police station and fined. The two cameramen announced that they intend to file a criminal complaint.
