Călin Georgescu, former presidential candidate, has his work contract suspended at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest and has not received a salary since 2024. According to an official response, his contract is suspended also in the academic year 2025-2026. Although he declared that he is a "university professor", the Polytechnic University of Bucharest mentions that his academic title is university lecturer.

Georgescu had a teaching load of 16 hours per week until November 2024, but he requested the suspension of the contract. In an interview, he avoided providing details about his sources of income, stating that "God provides for us all". Additionally, prosecutors discovered that Georgescu allegedly received large sums of money from the mercenary Horațiu Potra, around $10,000 per meeting. Furthermore, Georgescu and his wife have purchased several properties, including land in Brașov and a villa in Mogoșoaia, raising suspicions about his sources of funding.
