Supporters of Călin Georgescu mobilize for bail / Georgescu: “If necessary, only I, the law firm, and my family will provide details so that we can receive financial support. But that is not the case”

Supporters of Călin Georgescu have launched appeals on TikTok to raise money for a possible bail payment after the former presidential candidate was placed in preventive detention for 30 days.

The appeals are addressed to the Sinescu-Nazat law firm, which represents Georgescu, as well as to his wife, Cristela Georgescu. The female supporters are asking for the possibility of requesting bail to be analyzed and say that the amount could be raised quickly, including by opening an account in which donations could be tracked in real time.

Three videos posted on TikTok have together accumulated tens of thousands of likes and comments. Several users say they are willing to donate between a few lei and thousands of euros, while others are proposing street protests as a form of support.

The campaign comes a few days after a similar mobilization to purchase a home for Georgescu. The initiative was launched after DIICOT placed a lien on his property in Mogoșoaia on September 24. At that time, Georgescu told his supporters that there was no need for money and that, if necessary, he, his family, and his lawyers would communicate the details.
