The General Council of Bucharest voted on a project that prohibits the use of fireworks, imposing a tax of 500 lei per minute for organizing pyrotechnic shows.

Organizers will need the approval of the City Hall to hold such events. Local police will penalize individuals who do not comply with these measures. Instead of fireworks, the City Hall and sector city halls will use light lasers and drone shows for festivities.

This decision was made to protect people and animals, with Bucharest joining other cities in the country, such as Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Brașov, and Constanța, which have adopted similar measures.
