The general mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, announced on Friday the proposal of a single Regulation for trucks and heavy machinery that transit Bucharest, aimed at reducing heavy traffic and protecting road infrastructure.
The new regulation provides for the extension of weight restrictions across the entire city and the reconfiguration of Zone B, where traffic fees will be reduced to encourage carriers to avoid the central ring. At the same time, fines for carriers who drive without authorization will be doubled, reaching up to 10,000 lei. Additionally, vehicles over 5 tons will be able to circulate without time restrictions, provided they hold the necessary authorization.
The PMB has intensified controls, finding that one in five trucks is driving illegally, and since the beginning of the year, over 800 fines have been imposed, totaling over 3.6 million lei. The project will be submitted to public debate and the vote of the general councilors.
