Bolojan has mandated Dragoș Pîslaru to negotiate with the European Commission a staggered increase in the salaries of dignitaries.

The interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated that the Minister of Labor, Dragoș Pîslaru, is mandated to negotiate with the European Commission a staggered increase in the salaries of dignitaries, in the context of applying the unified salary law starting January 1, 2027, for over 1.2 million public employees.

"I mandated Mr. Pîslaru today to seek in the negotiations he is conducting these days with the European Commission, because this salary hierarchy could not be avoided, I emphasize, to look for a staggered increase in the salaries of dignitaries in the coming years," announced interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan on DigiFM.

The new system will introduce 12 salary grades, with coefficients from 1 to 8, determining the base salary. The highest salary will be that of the President of Romania, amounting to 32,800 lei gross.

Bolojan emphasized that this salary hierarchy is necessary to eliminate existing inequities and to obtain European funds of 770 million euros. He explained that the salaries of dignitaries are low compared to other occupations and highlighted the importance of responsibility in public positions.
