Bogdan Ivan, former PSD Minister of Energy, reacted to the criticisms of interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan regarding the small modular reactors (SMR) project in Doicești, emphasizing that this is not a political project, but a strategic one.

Ivan stated on Facebook that nuclear energy represents a sophisticated technology, essential for Romania's connection with the USA, through the Cernavodă and SMR projects. He accused Bolojan of wanting to block this vital project, which has received support from both parties, liberals and social democrats, from 2020 to the present. Ivan explained that nuclear projects are costly due to rigorous safety standards and the constant capacity for energy delivery. He also mentioned that the SMR project has been validated by the International Atomic Energy Agency, highlighting the involvement of globally present companies in this endeavor.
