The Minister of Energy and the U.S. Ambassador discuss Romania’s strategic energy projects: the Cernavodă reactors, SMR, and the Vertical Gas Corridor among the main topics addressed

The Energy Minister and representatives of American partners discussed, during a meeting whose date and location were not specified, the acceleration of Romania’s strategic energy projects and the strengthening of regional energy security.

The discussions focused on the project for Units 3 and 4 at Cernavodă, the development of small modular reactor (SMR) technology in Doicești, and the strengthening of the Vertical Gas Corridor. It is considered an important instrument for diversifying supply sources and reducing risks to the region’s energy security.

The Energy Minister highlighted the need for concrete solutions to accelerate nuclear projects by intensifying dialogue among the companies involved and continuing cooperation with American partners.

At the same time, Romania is seeking to attract new American investment in the energy sector, including in biomass. The discussions also covered vocational training programs and educational exchanges dedicated to advanced nuclear technologies.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to deepening the Romania–United States Strategic Partnership and developing energy projects with economic and strategic benefits for Romania and the entire region.
