The Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR) and Erste Group Bank AG have provided financing of 151 million euros for the construction of the Peștera II wind farm, located in Constanța County, with a capacity of 392 MW.
The project is developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, an investment firm specialized in energy infrastructure. The total financing of the project amounts to 510 million euros, secured by a consortium of seven local and international banks, while the equity comes from the project owners, including the European Investment Bank. BCR plays the role of the main creditor and guarantee agent, being actively involved in managing current accounts. Peștera II is the largest investment in renewable energy in Romania and benefits from CfD subsidies for 15 years, having an installed capacity of 245 MW.
The project is expected to become operational in 2028, contributing to the energy security of Romania. In 2025, BCR provided over 800 million euros in financing to the energy sector in Romania.
