The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) conducted inspections in the Bucharest-Ilfov region, where over 200 tons of vegetable products were checked.

Inspectors found significant irregularities in 121 tons, including issues with classification, presentation, and marketing.

All non-compliances were identified on a single wholesale trading platform, highlighting the scale of the phenomenon.

ANPC imposed fines totaling over 80,000 lei, according to Law no. 363/2007. The inspections revealed differences in caliber and quality, as well as the use of outdated regulations for product classification. Although the analysis documents confirmed the absence of pesticide residues, subsequent tests confirmed the presence of three active substances, but within legal limits.

ANPC has notified the competent institutions for further checks and necessary measures.
