On July 31, 2026, inspectors from the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) conducted checks in the Bâlea Lake area, where they discovered serious irregularities at several economic operators in the public food and accommodation sector. As a result of this action, 54 fines were imposed totaling 300,000 lei and 35 warnings were issued. Expired food products, meat and dairy exposed to sunlight, as well as dirty and rusty refrigerators were among the violations found. Additionally, non-compliant products worth over 28,000 lei were permanently removed from sale, and other products worth over 42,000 lei were temporarily suspended. Inspectors highlighted the lack of metrological verification, non-compliance with storage conditions, and the absence of correct information for consumers. These irregularities endanger consumer health and have led to the suspension of services for one economic operator until the deficiencies are remedied.
