In January 2026, the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) intensified its control actions, applying 5,089 contraventional sanctions, with a total value of 26.47 million lei, which represents a 90% increase compared to the same period last year.
The monitoring activities have been adapted to market developments, aiming to strengthen consumer protection. The number of control actions increased by over 41%, reaching 6,608 checks, compared to 4,685 in January 2025. This intensification of activity led to a 62% increase in the number of sanctions applied and a significant increase in the value of fines, from 13.947 million lei in 2025 to 26.475 million lei in 2026. These results confirm the effectiveness of ANPC's interventions and strengthen public trust in the institution's mission.
