Alstom has announced the delivery of the first series Traxx Passenger electric locomotive for the Railway Reform Authority (ARF), part of a contract signed in January 2024 for 16 locomotives.
This marks an important step in modernizing railway services in Romania, aiming to create cleaner and more efficient transport. The locomotive has successfully completed the testing program, confirming its operational capability at speeds of up to 200 km/h. In the coming weeks, the endurance testing phase and training of the drivers will begin, and deliveries will continue until 2026. The locomotives are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including the ERTMS system, ensuring interoperability and safety. The contract also includes maintenance services for 20 years, with the possibility of extension.
Alstom's General Director for Romania, Șerban Iorga, emphasized the importance of this project in ARF's vision to modernize rail transport. Alstom has had a presence in Romania for over 30 years, with more than 2,000 employees and contributing to the electrification and signaling of railways in the country.
