The Agency for the Financing of Rural Investments (AFIR) has published for public consultation the draft Applicant’s Guide for intervention DR-21, dedicated to investments aimed at preventing the spread of epizootic diseases on sheep and goat farms. The measure seeks to strengthen farm biosecurity and reduce the risk of the emergence and transmission of peste des petits ruminants and sheep and goat pox.

The support is intended for farmers who own farms registered with an ANSVSA code and have at least 150 animals. Funding can reach €50,000 per beneficiary, while the non-reimbursable public aid may cover 90% of the project’s eligible value. The proposed budget for the session is €9 million, and project submissions will continue until the threshold of 300% of the available allocation is reached.

Eligible investments include disinfection and decontamination equipment, veterinary-sanitary filters, protective fencing, quarantine systems, and solutions for controlling access to farms. The intervention was introduced through an amendment to the CAP Strategic Plan 2023–2027, submitted to the European Commission. The guide can be consulted on the AFIR website, and comments may be submitted during the public consultation stage.
