Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu announced that 650 municipalities in Romania are still not enrolled in the online payment system Ghiseul.ro, with a deadline of August 25 to comply. After this date, local administrations risk the suspension of budget funding, including the shares allocated from income tax and other amounts intended to balance local budgets, with a few exceptions. Gheorghiu emphasized the importance of digitalization in public administration, stating that a modern state cannot function without essential capabilities in this area. The list of unenrolled municipalities has been published, with most being from the counties of Teleorman (63), Dolj (58), Olt (56), Caraș-Severin (46), and Mehedinți (34).
