The United Kingdom tops the ranking of countries with the most nominations at this year’s International Emmy Awards, with 14 selections announced on Wednesday. The British productions “A Thousand Blows,” from Disney+, and “Man vs. Baby,” from Netflix, were nominated in the drama and comedy categories, respectively.
Brazil follows with nine nominations, while Spain received five. In total, the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences selected 64 productions and artists in 16 categories, representing 22 countries.
In the drama series category, “A Thousand Blows” competes with “Careme” (France), “Menem” (Argentina) and “Real Kashmir Football Club” (India). Also nominated for the comedy series award are “Divisio Palermo - Season 2” (Argentina), “Old Dog, New Tricks” (Spain) and “Vir Das: Fool Volume” (India).
The Canadian series “Heated Rivalry,” produced by Bell Media/Crave and broadcast in the United States on HBO Max, was not included on the final list, although it had been entered in the competition and was eligible for an International Emmy. The production could not compete at the Primetime Emmy Awards because it was not made in partnership with American producers.
The winners will be announced at the International Emmy Awards gala, scheduled to take place in New York on November 23.
