PokePark Kanto, the first theme park inspired by the Pokémon franchise, opened its doors in Tokyo, offering visitors the chance to interact with characters like Pikachu. Located in Yomiuri Land, the largest amusement park in Japan, the park spans 2.6 hectares and was designed to attract both foreign tourists and locals, with tickets for the first two months already sold out. PokePark Kanto includes two areas: an outdoor space with Pokémon figures and a 'town' dedicated to shopping and attractions.
The Pokémon franchise, launched in 1996, has evolved from a Game Boy game to a global phenomenon, including movies and mobile games. In 2025, Japan recorded a record number of visitors, exceeding 40 million, despite the decline in Chinese tourists. Additionally, Universal Studios Japan in Osaka plans to set up Pokémon attractions.
