UNESCO is examining 68 candidacies for inclusion in the intangible cultural heritage, during a session taking place in New Delhi. Among these is Italian cuisine, which aspires to be recognized alongside other famous culinary traditions, such as French and Japanese. The Italian dossier emphasizes the importance of the exchange of flavors and emotions between generations and communities.
Additionally, the Dipavali festival in India, which celebrates the triumph of light, coincides with the evaluation of the candidacies. Other candidacies include musical genres such as son cubano and Venezuelan joropo. Currently, UNESCO has 788 practices classified in various lists, including from Romania, where local traditions have already been included in the intangible cultural heritage.
