Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, has purchased Strancally Castle, a Gothic property from the 19th century, located 200 kilometers from the European headquarters of his company.

The castle, built around 1830 on the banks of the Blackwater River, was extensively renovated in 2003. The transaction is not listed in the register of state property disposals in Ireland, and the Irish Times estimates the value of the property to be between 20 and 30 million euros.

A spokesperson for Zuckerberg stated that he and his family are delighted to take care of this historic house and look forward to spending time in Ireland. Meta has approximately 1,500 employees in Ireland, where many American multinational technology companies operate due to the favorable tax regime.
