Meta, the giant of social networks, is in discussions with the startup Anthropic to lease computing capacity, a move that could place it in competition with Amazon, Microsoft, and Google in the field of cloud computing.

According to sources, the deal could be worth up to 10 billion dollars over a two-year period, although the financial details remain speculative. This transformation into a cloud service provider could bring significant revenue for Meta, which has heavily invested in data center infrastructure to support its ambitions in artificial intelligence (AI).

This year, Meta intends to spend between 125 and 145 billion dollars to expand this infrastructure, thus doubling the spending of the previous year. CEO Mark Zuckerberg mentioned that Meta could lease the surplus computing capacity, considering the high demand from companies adopting AI. Currently, Meta is facing pressure from investors to demonstrate how these investments will positively influence financial results, in the context where the company's shares have dropped by over 8% compared to last year.

Recently, Meta launched an improved version of its AI model, Muse Spark, and announced plans to offer a paid version of it.
