Anthropic has revised downward its expectations for the company’s valuation at its upcoming Nasdaq listing, amid a decline in technology stocks and concerns over the enormous costs of artificial intelligence infrastructure. The $1.5 trillion threshold, previously considered possible, is now difficult to reach.
Investors consulted by CNBC estimate that the company could be valued between $1 trillion and $1.25 trillion, depending on market developments. Anthropic intends to list under the ticker ANT in the coming weeks and is expected to begin presentations for potential investors.
In October, the company was targeting a market capitalization of up to $2 trillion, after being valued at $965 billion in the private market in May. Anthropic did not comment on the reports concerning the new estimate.
The revision comes after a difficult period for the technology sector. The Nasdaq index fell by more than 5% in a single session, its steepest decline in the past 19 months, and recorded its weakest monthly performance since March 2025 in October. Investors fear that potential restrictions on data-center construction and a slowdown in spending on AI infrastructure could affect the profitability prospects of companies in the sector. The new initial public offering price will be crucial to the success of the listing and to market confidence.
