Anthropic is considering launching a new artificial intelligence model to respond to OpenAI’s advance following the release of GPT-6 Astra, as the company prepares for a possible stock market listing, three sources told Reuters.
According to the sources, the plans are under evaluation and there is currently no final decision on whether the new system will be launched or on its timeline. Anthropic is seeking to strengthen its position in the generative AI model market, where OpenAI continues to invest in products and technologies capable of attracting users and corporate clients.
The arrival of GPT-6 Astra has intensified competition between the two companies, and Anthropic is considering new options to narrow the perceived gap in performance and functionality. The company is known for its Claude family of models, used by both consumers and organizations.
At the same time, Anthropic is preparing for a possible initial public offering. A stock market listing could provide the company with additional capital for infrastructure development, research, and expanding its operations, in a sector where the costs of training and operating advanced models are very high.
