Mark Zuckerberg faces criticism after his superyacht, "Launchpad", did not intervene to help a stranded boat in Alaska

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, was criticized after his superyacht, "Launchpad," valued at 300 million dollars, did not respond to a distress call from a 6-meter boat that ran out of fuel in the waters off Alaska.

The incident occurred on Monday evening when the vessel "Wilderness Legacy" intervened to rescue the passengers, even though "Launchpad" was closer to the boat. Passenger Michael Love reported that boos echoed at the moment when the captain of the cruise ship announced that Zuckerberg's superyacht would not provide assistance.

The Coast Guard confirmed that the vessel was not in danger but issued a call for assistance. Zuckerberg's spokesperson stated that the billionaire and his family were not on board and that the crew was communicating on a different channel.

"Launchpad," delivered in 2024, is a luxury vessel measuring 118 meters, with capacity for 24 guests and a crew of 48 people, but has been involved in controversies related to privacy and recent incidents in Alaska.
