The composer Jolt Kerestely, famous for hits like 'The Tree' and 'Please Smile, Beautiful Girl', has died at the age of 91, according to the announcement from the 'Constantin Tănase' Review Theatre. He composed over 400 songs, including for children, choral music, and film. Born on May 12, 1934, in Harghita County, Kerestely studied music in Târgu Mureș and graduated from the 'Gheorghe Dima' Conservatory in Cluj-Napoca. He was a musical director at Romanian Television for 30 years and received the Order of Cultural Merit in 2004.
On Wednesday, the lifeless body of maestro Jolt Kerestely will be laid out in the foyer of the "Constantin Tănase" Review Theatre at Calea Victoriei 33.
Jolt Kerestely was a dedicated artist, known for his delicacy and sensitivity in creation, having a varied compositional style, ranging from light music to romance.
Among his famous works are 'Don't Play with Love', 'With Steppe Steps', and 'Night, Girl with Coal Earrings'.
