Patrick André de Hillerin died at the age of 52 / The journalist was found in Jurilovca

Journalist Patrick André de Hillerin died on Monday at the age of 52 in the commune of Jurilovca, Tulcea County. He was found by friends at around 6:00 p.m., and the information was confirmed by Ion Eugen, the mayor of the locality and a friend of the journalist. The cause of death has not been publicly disclosed. The mayor informed the family and said that the journalist’s body was to be transported to Bucharest.

Patrick André de Hillerin entered journalism in 1990, at the age of 15, when he published in the magazine of the Students’ League during the demonstration in University Square. In 1991, he became a founding member of the Academia Cațavencu Cultural Foundation, and later remained a shareholder in the magazine until 2002.

After a period in advertising, he worked at Saatchi & Saatchi, McCann Erickson and Graffiti BBDO. He later published in Săptămâna Financiară, Libertatea, Dilema and Cațavencii. In 2011, he was part of the team that launched Cațavencii magazine. He also wrote for programs such as Starea Nației and România 9.

In August 2025, he joined the Gândul publication, where he continued to write editorials on current political and social affairs. His death was also announced on Monday evening by local media outlets.
