Marketa Vondrousova, a Czech tennis player and Wimbledon champion, is facing a possible four-year suspension due to an incident related to a doping control. Vondrousova, who is ranked 46th in the world, stated that the doping control officer did not clearly identify themselves, which caused her distress and led her not to open the door. In an Instagram post, she mentioned that she has faced injuries, constant pressure, and sleep issues, but also threats from bettors who blamed her for their losses.
Her lawyer, Jan Exner, emphasized that the doping control procedures were not followed, and Vondrousova's refusal to cooperate was justified. Exner intends to argue before the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) that the player's reaction was legitimate, considering the circumstances.
