Venus Williams will return to the Australian Open after receiving a wild card, tournament organizers announced on Friday, marking her first appearance at Melbourne Park after a five-year break.

"I am excited to return to Australia and I look forward to competing. I have experienced so many incredible moments there and I am grateful for the opportunity to return to a place that has meant so much for my career," said Williams, at the age of 45.
