Novak Djokovic returns to the China Open after 11 years, having won six titles in Beijing

Novak Djokovic, the Serbian champion with 24 Grand Slam titles, will return to the China Open after an 11-year absence, the former world No. 1 announced on Wednesday. The ATP 500 tournament in Beijing will take place from September 30 to October 6.

At 39, Djokovic has a perfect record at the China Open and holds the tournament record with six titles won. His last triumph in Beijing came in 2015, the year he last competed in the tournament.

The Serbian's decision comes after his shock first-round defeat at the US Open, where he was beaten in five sets by Argentina's Mariano Navone. During the match, Djokovic complained of back and shoulder problems and vomited, while his physical issues affected his serve in the final sets.

“I can't wait to come back and play in front of all of you at the National Tennis Center,” Djokovic said on social media. Jannik Sinner, the world No. 1, won last year's men's edition.
