The President of the USA, Donald Trump, threatened that he might request the relocation of the matches from the 2026 World Cup if he believes there are security issues in the cities run by representatives of the Democratic Party that will host the competition. He stated that FIFA chief, Gianni Infantino, would agree to make this move at his request. Trump mentioned that he recently discussed with Infantino in Egypt and emphasized that he could apply the same measure for the 2028 Olympic Games, scheduled to take place in Los Angeles.
Additionally, Trump has mobilized the National Guard in cities run by Democrats, ignoring their refusals, claiming it is necessary to combat crime. Boston, which will host seven World Cup matches, is among the cities targeted by his threats.
