The four football associations from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland submitted a joint official bid on Friday to host the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2035. British Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, emphasized that this bid reflects the United Kingdom's passion for football and the positive impact that the success of the national women's team, the Lionesses, has had on young people in the country. Although the United Kingdom has not yet been officially chosen as the host, its candidacy has strong chances, considering that there are no other bids. The leaders of the associations stated that hosting this tournament would be a privilege and that the 2035 edition could become the largest sporting event ever held in the United Kingdom, with 4.5 million tickets sold.

The official announcement of the host will take place in a year, and the next edition in 2027 will be hosted by Brazil. Additionally, the women's World Cup will expand the number of participating teams from 32 to 48 starting with the 2031 edition, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, Jamaica, and Costa Rica. The United Kingdom has hosted a World Cup only once, in 1966.
