Seven countries have expressed their intention to bid to host the 2036 Summer Olympics, the International Olympic Committee announced on Tuesday. They are Germany, Hungary, South Korea, Turkey, India, Qatar and South Africa, according to L’Equipe.
The announcement represents the latest development in the process of selecting the next host of the Summer Olympics. At this stage, the countries have expressed their interest in participating in the selection procedure, and will proceed to prepare and submit their bids.
The deadline set by the IOC for submitting the bids is the end of October. Subsequently, the bids will be assessed as part of the official selection process, and the host city or country for the 2036 edition will be designated by the International Olympic Committee.
