Romania’s women’s national football team will face Norway in the first round of the play-off for qualification for the 2027 World Cup. The first leg is scheduled for Friday, October 9, at 20:00, at the “Arcul de Triumf” Stadium in Bucharest, while the return leg will be played on Tuesday, October 13, at 19:00, at Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo.

Romania won Group C5 of League C in the qualifiers, with 10 points, after the matches against the Republic of Moldova and Cyprus. The result also secured promotion to League B for the next edition of the Nations League.

Norway finished second in Group A4 of League A, behind Germany and ahead of Austria and Slovenia. The Nordic side has an impressive record, having won the world title in 1995 and two European titles, in 1987 and 1993. Its players include Ada Hegerberg, the first winner of the Ballon d’Or in women’s football, and Caroline Graham Hansen, winner of the UEFA Women’s Champions League this season with Barcelona and also recently nominated for the Ballon d’Or.

The winner of the Romania–Norway “two-legged tie” will face, in the second round of the play-off, the winner of the match between Albania and Wales. The matches in this phase will take place between November 26 and December 5, 2026.

The squad called up by head coach Massimo Pedrazzini for the play-off round against Norway:
