Cristiano Ronaldo was the victim of an act of vandalism when a statue of him in Madeira was set on fire by a man who posted a clip on social media. He doused the statue with gasoline and set it ablaze, dancing as the flames engulfed the sculpture. The perpetrator, known online as zaino.tcc.filipe, stated that his act represents a "final warning from God." The Portuguese police are investigating the incident, considering that the man had previously been admitted to a psychiatric hospital. The statue, moved to Funchal in 2016, had also been vandalized by fans of Lionel Messi. Ronaldo's fans vehemently criticized the action, deeming it irresponsible and unacceptable.
