The health condition of Mircea Lucescu has worsened in recent days, and doctors are exploring advanced treatment solutions. One of these is ECMO, a technique used in critical cases to support vital functions. The former coach of Romania, Mircea Lucescu, is hospitalized in serious condition in Intensive Care at the Bucharest Emergency University Hospital, after suffering a heart attack.
What is ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation)? It is an advanced medical method of life support, used in critical situations when the lungs or heart can no longer function properly. ECMO allows the heart and lungs to be temporarily taken over by an external machine and enables the patient to receive medical treatment. During this time, the affected organ has time to recover.
Marius Andronache is the Romanian doctor in France who will install the ECMO system for Mircea Lucescu in an attempt to save the former coach. In the country, he works for the largest private cardiology hospital in Bucharest and Cluj. In France, he operates in Argenteuil, also in a medical institution specialized in cardiology.
