A sentence of 7 and a half years in prison was handed down against an “ultra” supporter of the Argentine club Newell's Old Boys from Rosario for the threats made against Angel di Maria in 2024, with the aim of intimidating him in connection with his return to Argentina.
The threats consisted mainly of gunfire accompanied by threatening messages near the private neighborhood of Funes, on the outskirts of Rosario, where Di Maria owns a residence.
In addition, “a pig's head with a bullet in its forehead and a note saying that, if I returned to (Rosario) Central, the next head would be that of my daughter Pia” had been thrown in front of a real estate agency run by his sister, Di Maria told the Rosario 3 television station at the time.
