Authorities in Argentina suspended Mauro Icardi’s driver’s license until 2099

Mauro Icardi is no longer allowed to drive on public roads in Argentina until 2099, after authorities discovered that the former Argentina international did not hold a valid driving licence in his native country. The 33-year-old footballer would reportedly be able to drive again only at the age of 105.

The case began with a video posted by Icardi on social media, showing him in a car alongside his partner, China Suárez. In the footage, she is more than halfway outside the vehicle and is not wearing a seat belt. The clip went viral and attracted the attention of the Argentine authorities.

Following their checks, the authorities found that Icardi did not have a valid driving licence for Argentina. As a result, his right to drive on public roads was suspended until 2099, in what is considered a record sanction.

Mauro Icardi is a free agent following his departure from Galatasaray. The striker has made eight appearances and scored one goal for Argentina.
