The Constitutional Court of Romania postponed, today, the decision regarding the referral from President Nicușor Dan concerning the "Novak Law". The decision has been postponed to March 4.
The "Novak Law" requires clubs from all team sports to use at least 40% Romanian athletes in any official match, both at the junior and senior levels.
The head of state argues that the normative act is discriminatory. "I firmly support the objective of encouraging and developing Romanian sports, supporting young athletes, and investing in their training. These goals are legitimate and necessary. However, they must be achieved in compliance with the Constitution of Romania and the law of the European Union, of which Romania is a part," wrote Nicușor Dan on Facebook.
